QV's Business of Investing

For clients, QV strengths are our experienced people, our supporting information systems, and our quantitative processes to manage risk in our portfolios and in our organization. Our analytical teams, our common processes, our flat organization, and comprehensive reporting systems, create a sound basis for growth and responsiveness to clients. QV Investors builds on four foundations:

  • Security Selection & Analytical Teams
  • Investment Committee & Portfolio Audit
  • Client Communications & Account Management
  • Business Management & Executive Committee

Security Selection & Analytical Teams

To employ our strengths efficiently, we work in an open office encouraging to the flow and refinement of ideas. A Lead Manager guides two or three person teams to select securities for our mandates. All QV's Managers engage in security analysis. All employ a common series of tests for quality control. Analysts submit major recommendations to the Investment Committee for approval.

Investment Committee & Portfolio Audit

The Investment Committee assesses all recommendations and reaches consensus for selection. The Analyst will recommend a suitable weight and execute the approved transaction for accounts with similar objectives. On a monthly basis, QV quantitatively audits all model portfolio holdings to assure conformity with portfolios' objectives.

Client Relations and Account Management

Account Managers are responsible for maintaining client relationships, for establishing investment policies and accounts consistent with client objectives, for monitoring portfolios for compliance and for reporting to clients on a timely basis.

Business Management & Executive Committee

QV's three Directors with the assistance of the senior administrative and financial staff supervise operations, compliance requirements, performance, and financial results and set the firms direction.
